Our Story

Hi, we’re Curtis and Sharon Urrutia. Like many small businesses, our cabinet journey began in a garage in Middleton, Idaho, after the 2007–2008 crash led us to make a career shift. It wasn’t the path we planned, but it turned out to be the one we love. What started out of circumstance has grown into a lasting passion for craftsmanship and quality.

From the beginning, this has been a family effort. Our three children grew up working in the business, learning the trade alongside us. Today, our son Mitchell and his family are preparing to carry the business forward when we retire, ensuring the values of craftsmanship, honesty, and family ownership continue into the next generation.

As a family-owned company, we’ve built our reputation on integrity and attention to detail. We care deeply about the product we deliver, and every project reflects our commitment to doing things the right way. Our goal is simple: to create cabinets that stand the test of time and bring pride to the homes they’re built for.

When we’re away from the shop, we enjoy traveling the U.S. on our Harley, relaxing in Mexico, and spending time with our kids and grandkids.  Those moments recharge us and remind us why we value both hard work and family

Meet the Team

Mitchell Urrutia has been a part of The Cabinet Shop since his parents started it 2007. He earned his Bachelors Degree of Business in 2020 and has since taken on the shop manager role. Mitchell keeps the shop running smoothly and makes sure every project gets the care it deserves. With years of woodworking experience and a love for cabinetry, he helps the team stay on track and ensures each job meets our high standards. Outside the shop, Mitchell enjoys time with his wife and four kids, spending time at the Oregon coast, riding his Harley, and watching football.

Cameron Capps joined the shop in 2022. He is responsible for giving each cabinet its final touch of beauty and durability. With a careful hand and attention to detail, he applies finishes that bring out the natural character of the wood while ensuring long-lasting protection. Whether it’s a smooth stain or a flawless paint finish, he takes pride in making sure every piece leaving the booth looks its absolute best. Away from work he enjoys time with his wife and daughter, playing basketball, boating, and hanging with friends.
